I'm in yr 7 going in yr 8, when i'm older i want to get into interior designing. what subjects should i be focusing on to get the job i want, what should i be doing to help me get that job?? any feedback on interior designing??Advice on Interior Designing? ?
Concentrate on some art classes, math and history. The history comes in play, to know names of styles of architecture, cabinetry and so on. If your school offers the following classes, take them as well:

Accounting, Personal Finance and any Business Classes.

If it's still around, a Home Economics class(I think now they call it something like Domestic something???), would be good as well. One semester on cooking(helps with learning basic kitchen layout), one semester of sewing(helps with fabrics, texture, etc.) and of course the other semester is a general time of other things one should know around the house(still helps in the business world as well!)

When you have some time, study interior design sites. Look in magazines, watch HGTV, Bravo and other networks, that offer design programs. Now we all know some of them are a little hokie! But most offer good basic design principles. Also, go to the library, find books that explain the color wheel. Learn about complimentary or contrasting colors, how they all work or don't work together.

Here are some links to good sites:

You may want to decide along the way, if you want to concentrate on residential design, commercial design, some of both or if you want to concentrate on specific areas of the house, like living room and bedrooms only.
