Advices on designing logos?

I do graphic design and I've never been interested in anything until I started doing logos. It takes me a while to design some logo and I still have to constantly look at different people's work for inspiration and ideas. Is that bad or ok?

Any advices? ThanksAdvices on designing logos?
That depends upon the degree in which you use others ideas to influence your own. If you are constantly repeating other people's ideas, than yes in a manner of speaking, that is bad. But not many ideas in this world are completely original. Every person gets one idea, and then puts their own little spin on it and leaves it for the next person to do the same. As long as you are continuing in this cycle you are safe.Advices on designing logos?
logos should be simple and usually one color.

using more than one color generally costs more when duplicating (like printing on shirts, hats, mouse pads, coffee mugs...)

you should make the logo in a program like adobe illustrator or other program that uses vector graphics so the lines are smooth and the logo can easily be re-sized without any degradation of the image.

look at the type of business, products, and customer base for ideas.

also look for ways to incorporate the logo into company or product names.
yeah it good but if you look at their idea, you can always look at what can be approved or make it look better. Should it be more colorful or more abstract. We all have to look at inspiration somewhere, I do the same thing. I look at posters, magazines, business cards, logos...etc.

try looking at some floral tribal models...maybe you will find something that you like ..... the tattoo looks something elfish to me .... you could go with a pattern like some runes and writings from LOTR(lord of the rings) ..... anything else i really have no idea. i think that the elfish pattern will look great :)Need tattoo advice! I like what you have now...but if you want something more I'd add some of 1 or 3 to it...up to the right left, coming out of the middle....i'll see if i can come up with something for ya! :D

How much do you want to add?
To tell you the truth, I like as is. I would just keep filling it in before I did any cosmetics to it. Simple can make a huge statement if it's bold!
I like Idea 1 and 3, but I think idea 3 is better. It's really nice. (:

There are many colleges in the United States that do. I would contact schools in the US you are interested in and see what they say.

first of all, what do you think? I've been kind of unhappy with it for awhile now. I got it to cover a large scar but I think it just looks too scratchy and boring.

Would someone be able to draw up some designs to make it look better? I'm thinking of adding one of the designs in a lighter color underneith it in a gray color...or maybe some colored flowers and swirls (which I don't have a pic of).

Best answer would definitely go to someone who could draw up a design!! :o)Need tattoo advice! What do you think about my tattoo? Can someone help draw some designs to make it better??
I think the basic concept of your tattoo is decent. It's very simple but has nice flow. The execution of it leaves something to be desired. The outline of the centre shape is a little rough and uneven, and the shading is just blotchy and faded out.

Since a tattoo is an investment for life, I think you'd be best off finding a skilled tattoo artist, who will be able to fix up the colours in what you already have, and design a complementary add-on to your existing tattoo (and then tattoo it on you so that it looks good.)

There are lots of talented artists online (very few willing to work for free though), but tattoo artwork needs to be given special consideration, as what looks good on screen/paper might not work so well on skin.Need tattoo advice! What do you think about my tattoo? Can someone help draw some designs to make it better??
use the last one it was the best. in my opinion. but in all actuality I dont really like tats.
Even though your tat might not be 'perfect' it looks rather cool. I see it as a very good base. You can do most anything with it. You can go with flowers, butterflies, or just stick with line if you want.

What you need now is detail sense what you have now does not.

Like someone said go to a good artist. I'd wait till' I had some money to throw down. A good tat can easily cost a few hundred dollars. But remember it is going to last forever on you, so worth the investment. You can get a cheap tat but it might not be worth it.

  • Advice for a youngster wanting to work in video game designing?

I have an under 10 year-old son who has shown interest in designing video games. I know that since he is so young that the aspirations could change. What I am asking for is things that he could do now to starting working toward that goal in video games or computers. He shows a talent for drawing and (of course) enjoys playing on his Gamecube, Nintendo DS and computer games (Club Pengiun, Toontown, Adventure Quest, etc.) I am thinking along the lines of typing lessons, art classes (cartooning), computer programs or other ideas. Thank you for your help!!Advice for a youngster wanting to work in video game designing?
Video game industry now is as developed as ever. It is like any other product we have on the shelves now. It goes through all phase of production as well, such as concept, deveopment, marketing and testing.

What you want to do is take notices in watching your son in his interests. Such as what does he like to do? As you have mentioned, he likes to draw, does he spent long hours drawing or just quick sketches here and there? Does his drawings show a lot of characters, or scenes and backgrounds?

There are many specialized positions in the gaming industries, like a full movie production. Some of the positions in the development team may include:

    Character Artists

    Storyboard Artists

    3D Modelling Artists

    Background Artists

    Production Testing

    Scenario Designers

    Game Engine Programmers.

What you not want to do yet is to overloard your son with all these technical jargons. But to overlook him and steer him in the right direction, helping him gather information and researches in these topics. As you have said, he might change his mind down the road.

But for now, test the water. Just buy him for some beginner's book and see how he reacts to them, or purchase some titles like RPG Makers on consoles you have and see how it turns out.Advice for a youngster wanting to work in video game designing?
I would suggest some books on world mythology - Greek, Roman, African. Designing games starts with a good story, and most of the stories I've 'played' have their roots in the same world mythologies, the human stories, the grand tragedies, myths of gods/goddesses and heroes. There are books of this type geared toward younger readers, with great illustrations (I had a few in my childhood).

And if you are a reader, you may wish to read some of Joseph Campbell's works, which deal with the mythologies of many cultures. It will give you an eye-opening view on popular movies and culture.

    Best journey to you both-

Designing A 4-Wheeled Bicycle - A Quadcycle. Need advice from anyone with knowledge on bikes!?

I'm in the process of designing a 4 wheeled mountain bike - or as i call it, a Quadcycle, for my A Level Product Design Major Project. I am confident it will work, it will need a fair amount of suspension but what other factors will bear thinking about? It will need gears too... Any information / ideas at all on this subject will be greatly appreciated - materials, existing products, constraints, experiences... anything! Do you think it's a cool idea? Any feedback is appreciated!Designing A 4-Wheeled Bicycle - A Quadcycle. Need advice from anyone with knowledge on bikes!?

In addition to Andy's link, I would contact John Castellano. This man invented the sweet spot full suspension bike, which is still my favorite design. He has also designed off road wheelchairs. If anyone can get you started in the right direction, I'm betting he can. He's also cool enough to answer emails himself. Check him out below:

    Your major constraint is horsepower.

All of the things you need to do to make a 4 wheel human powered vehicle are working against it.

    1. Weight. You are adding a significant number of components, and every one of them has a mass. None of them add to horsepower.

    2. Rolling resistance. 4 wheels have nominally twice the rolling resistance of two.

    3. Aerodynamics. You will be adding aero drag with extra frame components and wheels. A recumbent position would offset this to some degree, but you've ruled that out.

As my brother discovered when he designed and made a 2 wheel drive bicycle, the additional drivetrain power losses made it nothing more than an interesting design exercise. There were were only a very few limited circumstances (like loose sand) where the 2 wheel drive would outperform a standard bike, and the power required made those rides exhausting and short.

Back in the early 80's when AWD cars like the Audi Quattro were the hot new thing in racing, the rule of thumb was that the improved traction/handling/control of the AWD was offset by power losses unless you had well over 100hp to work with. Its a mighty good cyclist that can generate more than .5 hp for more than a short time.

Not saying you shouldn't do it - it will be a valuable learning experience. Just pay attention to weight and drag, and don't expect any kind of spectacular results.

    Designing a C&C cage...a little advice please?

i am designing a C%26amp;C cage soon. I have no pigs yet but will be getting some after the summer!! (yay I'm sooo excited! by the way i'm adopting!) anyways i was thinking to start simple. a 2 grids x 3 grids cage with a 1 grid by 1 grid hayloft...does this sound ok...or should i make it a 1x2 hayloft? I'm not sure how many grids i will have left over soo...probably i will buy 1 box from bed bath and beyond (yes the nearest one near my home carries them) suggestions please...? ThanksDesigning a C%26amp;C cage...a little advice please?
You should build the c%26amp;c cage as big as you can depending on how many guinea pigs you want to keep in it.

I just built my c%26amp;c cage last weekend. I have 4 guinea pigs, so I made a 2-by 5 cage with a 2-by-2 second story.

Just make sure you have a suitable place to keep the cage. I tryed keeping mine in my bedroom but found that it took up too much room and they were pretty smelly so I moved them into the shed.

I bought my grids off trade me (a NZ site-like ebay) for $10 plus shipping=$23.

For the bedding, I use a thick layer of newspaper, a layer of old towels and then a surface layer of fleece. The fleece was quite cheap-I got six 2m-by-2m for $36.

I bought a shmpoo rack for $3 to use as a hay rack and some long multipurpose trays for vege bowls.

I made a kitchen area(2-by-2 grid) and put pine shavings on the floor-apparantly you shouldnt use pine because it can cause respritory problems but I didnt realise when I bought it.

So overall it cost me around $120-I think thats about $60 US so it was much cheaper than buying a small hutch or something.

Im only keeping my guinea pigs in their c%26amp;c cage for the winter and then il move them back out into their huge outdoor hutch for the summer.

    I am in the process of making a film of my c%26amp;c cage so you can go and check it out if you want-It should be ready in a couple of days. I will upload it onto youtube; my channel name is ';enil0rac';

To find out more you can go onto the c%26amp;c cage website and if you click on ';photo galleries'; at the top of the page, you can see heaps of photos of other peoples designs and stuff.

    Hope Ive helped

Good luckDesigning a C%26amp;C cage...a little advice please?
Each guinea pig is supposed to have 4 sq. feet of space so if you are getting two, this is a bit small, though is you need to it's still ok. A 3x3 cage would not take many more grids, and would give your pets the space they should have. It would only take 12 grids to make the whole bottom story. Then the hayloft should take 2 or 3, the ramp 2... It would work!
THAT SOUNDS GRETA BUT how many pigs are you gonna get?

i would say that is good for 2 or maybe 3 but no more

    i have 2 babys and i have a c%26amp;c cage

in withe it is only 1 grid in leangth it is 3 grids

but hopefully i am getting one more gris in withe and another level

  • Argh! help! bit of a career problem, do i go into designing/art or into medicine? any advice?

you see, i'm in a bit of a dilema. i'm stuck between persuing a career in becoming a doctor or one in creative art and design. i'm going to be choosing my a-levels soon and i need to have some sort of idea as to what to do later so that i don't close doors to a certain career and choose wisely coz there aint no turnin back. as you can see i'm torn between 2 end of the spectrum. medicine or design. my heart or my head.

i really want to become a doctor so that i can help people and save lives. but then i really want to do designing and stuff because i really enjoy it and i'm good at that kind of stuff and maybe if i'm really successful i can donate lots of money to charity. however, i can't be sure that i'm successful and with the current economic situation, i'm not sure that the career is stable and may not be able to donate money, whereas, if i were a doctor, i'd have a stable job, and i'd be really pleased that i'd helped people and will be able to sleep at night sound(ish). but i'm not sure i can get into a medical career with all the competition thats about. i mean, i'm kinda good at chem, phys and specially bio, but i know so much more people tonnes better than me at science and want to become a doctor.

and i'm better at arty subjects anyway. but i'm so confuzzled!

my heart want's me to become a doctor because i want to help people

my head wants me to become a designer type person to earn money to help people.

those are two opposite ends of the galaxy-no guarantees you would get into med school and/or survive once you got there and you're talking twice as much school and 4 times the cost for a doctor - nursing makes good money - start your career a lot quicker - you would have actually have time to work on art part time if you already have the talent

    Designing a bedroom..need some advice..?

I'm designing a master bedroom and en-suite bathroom for a course i'm doing. I have been given a piece of fabric to be used for light upholstery or curtains etc. the fabric is striped faded blue, brown n greeny yellow..quite nice but the only problem is I am completely stumped as to what colours to go with for the bedroom and bathroom. Like what colour should i do the walls and what colour bedding should i use to go with the fabric i have been given. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance!!!Designing a bedroom..need some advice..?
You can use florals, paisley or damask with stripes as long as the colors coordinate. Mixing patterns makes a room more interesting too. Use the fabric for curtains and maybe an accent pillow and get bedding like one of these:

Having bargain fabric is not necessarily a reason to use it.

Since you want fluid color flow between the bedroom and bathroom What color are the tiles (floor and bath area) in the bathroom? That is quite permanent unless you are going to remodel it ... So do those function with the fabric? Is the tile color in the fabric.

What woods are the bedroom furniture composed of? Decorating takes enormous thought. Take a piece of the fabric and start a color board and begin to put together your choices on color and see what works.

Consider the soft lime color for walls. You MUST carry a color swatch of the fabric for matching.

Cream or off white for bed linens with chocolate accents. Chocolate glossy pottery around the room as accents.

The fabric for the windows (how many yards do you have, one window would take at least 5 yards) Or use it for one or two throw pillows in the room with chocolate pillows and of course one to match the lime walls.

Have fun, It sounds like a great project.

    Advice on Interior Designing? ?

I'm in yr 7 going in yr 8, when i'm older i want to get into interior designing. what subjects should i be focusing on to get the job i want, what should i be doing to help me get that job?? any feedback on interior designing??Advice on Interior Designing? ?
Concentrate on some art classes, math and history. The history comes in play, to know names of styles of architecture, cabinetry and so on. If your school offers the following classes, take them as well:

Accounting, Personal Finance and any Business Classes.

If it's still around, a Home Economics class(I think now they call it something like Domestic something???), would be good as well. One semester on cooking(helps with learning basic kitchen layout), one semester of sewing(helps with fabrics, texture, etc.) and of course the other semester is a general time of other things one should know around the house(still helps in the business world as well!)

When you have some time, study interior design sites. Look in magazines, watch HGTV, Bravo and other networks, that offer design programs. Now we all know some of them are a little hokie! But most offer good basic design principles. Also, go to the library, find books that explain the color wheel. Learn about complimentary or contrasting colors, how they all work or don't work together.

You may want to decide along the way, if you want to concentrate on residential design, commercial design, some of both or if you want to concentrate on specific areas of the house, like living room and bedrooms only.

Can u give me advice to start software designing?

Depending on what you want to design you could try this link

http://developer.apple.com/iphone/progra鈥?/a>Can u give me advice to start software designing?
Unless you have an idea for an entirely new concept in software, you won't have much success on your own. All software currently on market has not been developed by one single person but in collaboration. I think it is impossible for just one person to be able to come up with a marketable piece of software that works efficiently and effectively. To be able to design anything you have to be imaginative and come up with the original idea, and then find collaborators whom you can trust not to pinch your idea.

Talk to your adviser at school. If you attend a school you have one. It depends on your circumstances which one is better for you. We don't really know your circumstances and interests. It also depends how the quality of both compares at your specific school as I assume you don't want to change school. Though you probably will get the best advice if you talk to senior students of both programs or graduate students, they are currently in the program, and hopefully they have started looking into jobs and can give you an idea for job prospects in your area.

Advice sought in designing a website....?

Could anyone recommend a software package that has fairly simple templates and which is easy and quick to learn. I've done some HTML but would like to build a better website. Try the free PageBreeze:

http://www.pagebreeze.com/Advice sought in designing a website....?
There are tons of templates, as you say, but the main thing that I recommend is to always design according to your target audience - who do you want to appeal to, what do you know about them, what will turn them off, what sort of internet connection will they largely have (dialup users will suffer slower to load pages less than broadband users, hence less graphics etc).

We can design the best, impactful sites in the world, but if they turn-off or don't grab our main audience, then the effort is lost. You can always find people that are in your target sample and test some ideas out on them.

Hope these thoughts help, I know it's not directing you to a package, but I've found many people missing the mark just on some simple elements of identifying who their main targets are, and missing them with their design.

Is it good advice, never to buy the 1st year car model? Does same hold true with re-designed models?

We bought an SUV that was a first model year. There were lots of glitches, but otherwise we like it. We have test drove later models and have liked them much much better, and have noticed EXACTLY why they made some of the changes.

I would advise against first model years. Redesigns are OK.Is it good advice, never to buy the 1st year car model? Does same hold true with re-designed models?
It completely depends on the brand. Chrysler/Dodge is probably the worst to buy a 1st year vehicle. Honda/Toyota probably the best.Is it good advice, never to buy the 1st year car model? Does same hold true with re-designed models?
I've heard this, but the only time i knew of it being true was my mom's taurus sedan. she had an 88 taurus and then, bought a 97. the 97 was the year they re-designed them into the oval-type design.

she had a fair amount of problems with it, which were mainly design related. one thing was the windows whistled even when totally up. it was something with the design of the window that there was some wind drag right by the window....it could get pretty annoying.

    another thing to think about...

my friend bought a celica the year they were re-designed and it was horrible the first time to take it in for an oil change. jiffy lube had to call the manufacturer b/c they didn't know how to change the oil in the new design.....

we intend to buy a wrangle next year when they have the new 4-door design, however, i have thought about the curse of the 1st year redesign....

we'll probably still buy it. we love jeeps:)

    take care.
It largely depends on the car.

The traditional wisdom from my grandfather was the first year of a totally new car, generally had kinks that still needed to be worked out, but his frame of reference was the good ole' big three.

Today things are more complex, What may seems as a totally new car could be a one off of another established vehicle platform. The Chrysler crossfire for example, is basically a c class Mercedes with different skin.

If it is a totally new drive train, frame, engine etc, then I personally would still wait, but if greater than 50% of the guts (again drive train, chassis, engine, transmission is already in production, then its usually fine.

The same applies to redesigns, if it is just cosmetic then no problem.
consider what you are buying. a toyotaa car will probably do very well even as a first year model but same might not hold true for a buick. go towards brands that have had good track records. for example, i will buy thye redesigned toyota camry because it has had a goods record but not so much a redesigned cadillac dts or mercedces e class which have been known to give problems in the past.nevertheless, new cars are usually under warranty so if you have the money, buy anything you want as long as it is new, the problem is always later in thge life of the car. but if you dont earn a six figure salary and intend to keep the car more than a few years, i seriously advice sticking with the time tested and more common brands on the road.
I have bought several first year model and ill be honest its a fifty fifty shot Ive had some that the garage has had mere then me and others that I had no problems with the best advice I could give you is wait at least three months then check consumer reports web site and see what there reliability rating looks like.I currently have the 07 Tahoe with no real problems but my grandfather has had his in the garage 3 times.

I'm getting my first tat;i have my designs (zodiac tribal)picked out, worried about pain...any advice?

1 libra,1 saggitarius,1 aquarius,1 aries, also an angel for a lost baby, and some sort of remembrance for 4 lost relatives; 1 at a time,of course, need ideas.I'm getting my first tat;i have my designs (zodiac tribal)picked out, worried about pain...any advice?
Where are you getting the tat? I have 5 tattoos, it doesn't really hurt. Everyone has different pain tolerance of course, but for me it only hurt slightly, the only ones that bothered me were my wrists. Make sure to eat and drink something before you get it, I forgot to do that my first 2 tattoos. You'll get dizzy if you don't.

There's really nothing you can do about the pain WHILE you're getting the tattoo, the only option is to take breaks every once in a while. If you're not a complete wuss, the pain won't bother you, very rarely does someone have trouble actually getting the tattoo done. You could bring a friend or relative in with you to keep your mind off the fact that you're having a needle driven into your skin though, also the tattoo artist will probaly try and distract you, it's sorta part of their job.I'm getting my first tat;i have my designs (zodiac tribal)picked out, worried about pain...any advice?
It hurts, but you get used to it. The first time's the worst; after that you know what to expect and it really doesn't hurt much. Don't forget to eat a light breakfast the morning of your tattoo. I was so excited I forgot, and had to have my husband fetch me a sandwich while I sat with my head between my knees.

  • Advice in Fashion Designing?

I'm only 14 yrs. old... and I need some advice that will going to improve my design..

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/24339308@N08/2389318436/Advice in Fashion Designing?
in my personal experience of drawing fashion designs

one thing is very important. make sure that your design is clear. To you, you can interpret your design fairly quickly but for a person who's viewing it, it's hard to get the concept.

just work on projecting the idea and concept of your garment to the viewer.

you're still young so you still have the whole world to experience but it's not bad. Keep working on your designs and it'll become even better.Advice in Fashion Designing?
If you're looking for advice, I would say if you are ever near an art college, ask your 'rents to take you to a visiting designer lecture. If you're fortunate enough to be in NYC, go to Parsons or FIT - they have lectures all the time that are sometimes open to the public.

Take your portfolio to college portfolio reviews and find out what schools are looking for in a design school candidate.

And also, don't think that because you're only 14 that you can't do great things. But conversely, don't ever let your head get too big ;)
Sorry I don't have any advice on how to improve your designs, I just wanted to say you are very talented. I would not have guessed you were 14.

I've just opened an E-Shop featuring my graphic designs... any advice or suggestions?

Please go take a look at my new shop: http://www.cafepress.com/thisgirldesigns .

This is my first attempt at trying to make a little extra money since I enjoy graphic design and Paint Shop Pro/Photoshop. EVERYTHING in there was designed by me. I'm very excited about this, as it's been a dream of mine to sell my designs and actually be successfull with it.

I am hoping that once I get the word out about my shop and get a lot more products in there to sell, I might be able to be a stay-at-home mom. (I'm due with our first child- a boy- in late July. =)

Most of my designs/products are targeted for people like myself... mothers and mommies-to-be, but I am getting more items in there to include all sorts of stuff. I even offer lots of custom products, which are my favorite thing to create. :)

ANY advice or suggestions would be helpful... I REALLY want to make this work, so I am very open to what the public wants and what they think of my shop.

Thank you in advance!!!I've just opened an E-Shop featuring my graphic designs... any advice or suggestions?
There is a lot of competition in the industry you have chosen. All of the big retail chains do photo announcement cards now for much cheaper, and you can pick them up, envelopes and all, in an hour.

Same with the big brother/big sister clothing. So many people make them that you really need something unique to give you an edge. The ones on that site are very plain.

It is a good idea, but it needs a lot of fine tuning. Find what makes you stand out above the competition and market that. Advertise all that you can.

    Good luck.

I need advice on how to sell my greeting card designs...?

I made these cards the other week...

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/35192090@N0鈥?/a>

so far they've just been collecting dust because I don't know how to go about selling them, or if they even would sell. Can anyone recommend any card companies I could pitch them to.I need advice on how to sell my greeting card designs...?
make some up and take them to the local newsagent, gift shops and the like, see if they'll put them on the shelves - how quickly they sell will tell you how marketable they are. If they're snapped up really quickly, make sure they're replaced quickly and see how that goes - smaller independent people often gain a market share with their ';something different'; - I had a friend who made up cards from nice photos and covered a complete city with her designs - many ways to go about it or as with one of the previous answers, go through a distribution companyI need advice on how to sell my greeting card designs...?
Try going to etsy.com and setting up a shop. You would have to market yourself on other forums and stuff like to get traffic to your shop on etsy, but it would help you get more traffic. I found etsy by someone posting it as an answer on here and I sell graphics and stuff on there now. It is a really great site for artists. Also, check out the ';custom'; link at the top. It is where people request custom items, and they request cards and stuff a lot. You can bid on those and maybe get some clients.
Your library has a reference section, in it they have a book called Artist Markets, which comes out yearly. There is a greeting card market list in the book. It'll tell how much the companies pay, and how to submit your work to them.

    You can also self publish.

I need advice on shoe designing?

Im a male (not gay or anything) and have some VERY, VERY ,VERY good shoe sketches/designs/drawings that I draw in my sketch book.o.k so how do i take it to the next level, like what do i need to do to be seen, where do i go,who do i need to talk to? I am really trying to get things going,so if you have any advice tell me..I need advice on shoe designing?
Gay people wear shoes too, and in fact design some of the best ever done. Look up Andy Warhols sketches of shoes. That's how he started.

Seriously, you need to look up some PHYSICAL ANTHROPOLOGY and understand how the human foot evolved, how many bones there are in a foot, the kind of weight bearing it must take, how the nail is made, the tendons, etc. and understand that a shoe is first and foremost supposed to protect and comfort the stresses of the foot. PHYSICAL ANTHROPOLOGY.

    hiya,

what you need to do is do some tutorials on xhtml and css. You can create an EXCELLENT site with these skills alone,

I can recommend htmldog (give it a google...) work you're way through from the bottom.

I guarantee if you follow this through you will come up with something half decent.

What advice would you give a girl for a color of a prom dress? any designs?

i am 5'6';, tan, tall ofcourse, 13, brown hair w/blonde and caramel highlights and i relly need some ideas! What advice would you give a girl for a color of a prom dress? any designs?
I totally agree with the gold idea from the above answer. Gold looks especially good on those who carry a tan. Good luck, be safe, and have fun! What advice would you give a girl for a color of a prom dress? any designs?
Try a bridal shop. For example, David's Bridal. They have really cute bridesmaid and prom dresses for pretty good prices, and they will alter it at the store so it fits you perfectly. You get ripped off at the mall. I paid $300 for my Junior year dress, and my sister only paid $150 and hers was gorgeous. Color wise, I love red (try ';apple'; in the link below, it will show all the dresses in that color).
Maybe like a light pinkish strapless dress.

But if you're 13, why are you going to prom?
prom ? im guessing an 8th grade dance?

well gold and pink is good
pink, brown, tan, white ,cocoa, anything will look right as long as you accsessorize properly
Gold is super hot this season. It will go great with your tan complexion and your highlights. Just don't over accessorize, a gold dress is a pretty strong statement on its own. Just wear tiny studs for earrings, great shoes/purse and you are set. Have fun!
your 13 and going to a prom?????

  • Designing ideas ... I Just need some quick advice please!!!?

Okay so me and my family are moving soon im 13 years old.. and wanted to plan out the way i want my room. okay my room is gonna be huge its 19x11 soo any ideas i have a double bed. my favorite color is pink .

any ideas on what color shade pink i shold get? pics of the color please

my friend had the idea of saying paint my room like a light pink and then make paint bright pink and hot pink polka dots like ( the size of a basket ball maybe bigger) what do you think abou that too kiddy? i want like a cool teenager room since im gonna be 14 soon let me know of your ideas? What did you do for your teenage daughter's room?????Designing ideas ... I Just need some quick advice please!!!?
You can get some really cool looks by sponge painting one color over another. Also, I painted a room recently a dark color. Then I got a lighter color to go with it, and wadded up a plastic walmart sac in a ball, dipped it in the lighter paint. And splotched it all over the wall, which looked like polka dots with some texture to them. My 12yr. old wants to do her room lime green with hot pink dots all over. You can experiment with the plastic sacs, though, I tested on paper plates to see what looks I could get......looks neato.Designing ideas ... I Just need some quick advice please!!!?
know the perfect website and it's WAKE UP FRANKIE she also has a catalouge:

    http://www.wakeupfrankie.com/

(move the site down and look at the slide with says shop by ensemble and choose one)
Watch HGTV....it has amazing, cheap ways to decorate!
There are a few ways you can go. Combo's:

Of course you can go with the pink, add light green, %26amp; light blue.

Also: pink, yellow, green, %26amp; violet.

    Also: pink, yellow-orange, blue-violet, %26amp; yellow-green.
this may sound lame, but you'll thank me later. you should stick with the giant polka dot idea, its great... BUT don't do pink on pink.. do pink dots on a cream colored wall. and change the polka dots size and shade of pink all around the room, not just two pinks- use four. that way, all of the pink shades of your accessories will match the dots. Also you must paint the ceiling the same base color as the cream wall (don't leave it white). This will not only look cute and fun, but it will be warm and inviting, just on the edge of glam. too much pink on pink is a design mistake. Then go to a big lighting store and pick out a new ceiling light with lots of crystals... even pink or creamy ones. You can find a great new light for fifty bucks and your dad can put it in. Picking out a new ceiling light really makes the room yours... good luck. and since you're getting to be an adult, maybe you should start using real artwork on your walls instead of posters. just a thought.
I don't think I would go with polka dots as they may get old fast paint the room white and then get a sea sponge and hot pink paint dip the bottom of it and dab off the extra paint on an old rag or paper then dab the wall it will look a little different each time but will be interesting you can even use two shades of pink if you like
i think it should be a pale pink with white trim
I would paint your room a light pink and then pick a wallpaper border in a theme that suits you to match your pink color scheme. Go to a paint and wallpaper store for that. That could go in the middle of the wall or on top. It really will look lovely. Or if you know someone who is artistic, they could paint a mural of the design of your choice on one wall..just lovely. Go to JCPenney.com and look at comforter sets for teens and they have georgeous sets with curtains to match for teens in your colors scheme; different shades of pink. Also domestications.com, searsroomsforkids.com., thecompanystore.com. You can have alot of furniture in that room. That is a very nice size room. I would have an area for your computer, I would have a lovely desk and of course dresser, chest and bed. Good Luck in your decorating.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I love pink! If this is fine i will design the whole room. Paint the door white with pink pola dots, then make one wall sugar candy pink with huge neon pink painted wooden letter spelling out your name...then get a pink or purple bedspread with crisp white pillows. Then get warn white and light pink window shades and some pink painted suncatchers. For a creative design cut thelegs of of jeans, tie one end stuff it with cotton, tie the other end (all with pink and white ribbons) and plop on your bed. Also buy glass coke bottles, and wash then, then dip then into white and pink acrylic and stick them on one of your walls (using shadowboxes) put fresh flowers (or fake) inside the painted bottles (it looks sooooooooooo cool) leave one wall white and frame baby pics of you and or memoirs surrounded by pink curly swirls or stencils!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope my ideas are good!

I would really like to get back into Web page designing? Any advice? Please help!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was in high school about 2 years ago I took a web designing class and freakin' loved it! I learned a lot that was relevant at that time like HTML and stuff like that and how to work with Dreamweaver. However since then I haven't really had time to further this hobby and interest. Do you have any advice about how I can get back in the game of web designing and become real good at it. I don't mind working at it and practicing but I am in college and taking more than a full load on all of my other important classes that I don't really have time to take a class on web designing. Could anyone give me any advice at all on how to get my feet wet again and how to learn and dive in instead of just getting my feet wet?I would really like to get back into Web page designing? Any advice? Please help!!!!!!!!!!!
Sure! You should use XHTML, JavaScript, CSS, and maybe get a side server for your website, I mean, if you want it to be large. JavaScript can make your website more interactive than with XHTML. XHTML is a combination of HTML and XML, and will soon replace HTML for use in webpages. Go here to learn more about XHTML and other programming languages you can use for your website: http://www.w3schools.com/

My goldfish are getting married this weekend and I still haven't picked out the tuxedo for the bride. What kind of cakes would you recommend for the wedding? Appetizers?I need quick advice re: designing a wedding PLEASE will you give me some pointers?
For the wedding cake you can use the flake fish food and stack it, wet it, let it dry, and the serve it to them, however for the honey moon you'll want to go with the pellets that last a few days so that they can be alone on their honeymoon

Advice for presenting designs for greeting cards?

I design and draw ideas for greeting cards, i want to post my designs to production companies in the hope of them buying my design to print onto cards.

what is the best size and type of paper to use? Any advice on all aspects of this will be apreciated!!Advice for presenting designs for greeting cards?
Do the design on A4 paper, good quality paper (120gsm weight).

    Make sure you do either do 2 designs the same (or copy the original to send to card producer) and put originals in an envelope and send it to yourself. Keep the envelope sealed. This is to protect your designs. If a company should use one without your consent you have proof that the design is yours and the date you posted it to yourself on the postmark. This would stand up in a court of law...good luck in selling your designs...;

Artists: i need advice for what to charge for advertising work, they want to buy four designs from me.?

they want to buy four of my designs, to be used for handbills, tshirts, and logos. im very new to the world of economics and art, and i really need some help!

if you have any ballpark estimates, please let me know.Artists: i need advice for what to charge for advertising work, they want to buy four designs from me.?
The Graphic Artist Handbook is a good basic guide. http://www.gag.org/pegs/index.php

I usually charge based on the size of the company, and the range of the distribution (ie. is it local use, regional use, national or international use.)

Here's a little hint. Try not to sell your work outright with exclusive rights. If your work is original and unique, some artists manage to license the work instead of selling it for commercial use. This grants the customer non-exclusive rights to use your work for a limited period of time and only for specific uses. This also allows you to retain ownership of the work, and the ability to license the work to someone else in the future.

Many artists have been burned by selling work outright for commercial use. The original agreement might be only for a t-shirt design or local flyer, but then a few months or years later, all of a sudden the same work is on signs, billboards, television, and other widely distributed collateral. So if you sell the work, at least specify the use and distribution size and if there are any other uses beyond those specified, additional compensation is required. This is how photography is charged too.Artists: i need advice for what to charge for advertising work, they want to buy four designs from me.?
I'm not too sure about advertising prices, what kind of designs are they? computer designs? If so I'm not sure about that either. If they're paintings, sculptures, etc. you're supposed to charge for all the supplies you used (closest estimate) and then you charge for man hours and work put into the artwork, and that you should really judge on your own since you did the work. Harder work and more hours put into the project = more expensive, and so on.
If your that new, try a lower price with word of mouth advertisement, you can't go wrong. See what the established places charge. Then go from there. The first part of a new business, it to get a good name. Then, you can charge more.
Ask your customers what they are willing to pay you for your work. They will probably offer you more than you would have 'charged' them.

    Congratulations on your artistic success!

  • Some advices for Web Design on Microsoft Word 2007?

Hi, i have got a homework for college, I must design a web page using Microsoft Word, i have been taught in basic things and i understand it... But i want to improve my web page with sounds, language options (for translating the page from one language to other), animated gifts and things like that but i dont know how to do it... Im looking some advices on how to make my web page better but i can only use Microsoft Word 2007 (school requirement) Its mandatory to use this programm... so can anybody tell me how to do it?

Thx in advance!!!Some advices for Web Design on Microsoft Word 2007?
I would tell you right now that MS word is not a HTML editor. and that if they want you to design a website YOU use the correct tools (which are normal text editors) or WEBsite WYSIWYG editors (like Dreamweaver),

MS WORD BLOATS html code, by putting in stupid coding that Has nothing to do with design

A MS WORD html document can be up to 5 times larger than a normal one created through wysiwyg editors

    YOUR teacher is an idiot

I suggest that you fight your teacher on this stupid requirement. A SERIOUS web development teacher would not have suggested to use MS Word as an HTML editor

I suggest that you simply ignore that requirement and use a REAL HTML development program

http://www.net2.com/nvu/ - it works like DreamWeaver

If you want to do it old school, then I suggest Notepad++

    http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/s鈥?/a>

    Or NoteTab Lite

    http://www.notetab.com/ntl.php

Leave WORD to WORD Processing. NOT html editing

ETA: If you want, I can show how terrible Word is for html editing and what a REAL html editor can do

I'll edit this answer to show you links to both

I am intrested in fashion designing could somebody give me some advice?

if you like fashion answer me!!I am intrested in fashion designing could somebody give me some advice?
i love fashion and want to be a designer or something in the fashion industry when i get older. there are many things you can do in the fashion industry from designing the clothes to selling them also i think a stylist is a fun job. Right now you should take classes on sewing and design or fashion merchandising. My school offers those classes so im going to take them to prepare me for the future so i wont go in to the business clueless. fashion industry is something you cant just walk in to with no experience so you have to practice and work twards your gaol. the younger you start the better. i started out searching websites to learn more about the industry and the jobs they offer.

good luck!I am intrested in fashion designing could somebody give me some advice?

    Advice on Interior Designing? ?

I'm in yr 7 going in yr 8, when i'm older i want to get into interior designing. what subjects should i be focusing on to get the job i want, what should i be doing to help me get that job?? any feedback on interior designing??Advice on Interior Designing? ?
start subscribing to a bunch of magazines: house beautiful, elle decor, metropolitan home, dwell... there are so many... and even more important, watch HGTV obsessively and you will learn so much! good luck. great profession!Advice on Interior Designing?

Here are some links to good sites:

    http://www.karamann.com/?gclid=CKzygrWpq鈥?/a>

    http://www.imichaelinteriordesign.com/

    http://www.pellinteriors.com/bedroom.htm

  • Advice sought in designing a website....?

Could anyone recommend a software package that has fairly simple templates and which is easy and quick to learn. I've done some HTML but would like to build a better website. There seem to be 100s on ebay that are really cheap to buy and plenty of freeware packages.....any recommendations from you guys out there ?Advice sought in designing a website....?
    Try the free PageBreeze:

    Good luck! Rob

Where can i find advice and help with designs for my new clothing line?

What type of help are you in need of?

Are you needing a designer? Someone to assist with designing concepts, materials, etc.? Marketing?

Please elaborate, as I may have solutions.

Edit: 3/13/06 My daughter is ingredible at designing, she may be able to assist you in getting going. You say ';my new clothing line';, so I am assuming you already have something in the beginnings? Or just a concept? Or just an idea that you would like a line with your name on it?

Anyways, my 360 is not linking up for some reason, yahoo is checking on this for me. Let me know, as I am in Y Answers, just in case your question expires.

I need to design a logo for a project to improve customer service. Any advice? thanks?

I also don't get how an improve logo will improve customer service. If you want to improve customer service, send your staff for customer service training.I need to design a logo for a project to improve customer service. Any advice? thanks?
Your best approach to this project would be Adobe Photoshop. It's a great program with tons of tools and functions to create amazing graphics. The problem is that it is somewhat complex to use.

Now, if you've never used Photoshop, I strongly recommend you use Microsoft PowerPoint. You can create all sorts of shapes, you can use colour effects, add WordArts, and so on.

Good luck! Have a good day.I need to design a logo for a project to improve customer service. Any advice? thanks?
you can design a logo through using graphic arts, try to draw first the logo you want, %26amp; scan it to make more sharp you can use paint, or adobe then make the color you want etc.
When you are designing a logo ,make sure it is simple with a very good colors. The logo may be registered as a trade mark and it is good to promote the logo through media

Advice please on learning Photoshop or Paintshop for web design applications.?

I am learning web design and know very little about how to use Photoshop or Paintshop.

Is there an online resource where I can take class that starts from the very beginning? A ';Photoshop For Dummies'; class would be perfect.

Some really good tutorial instruction would work too.

Also, I know that there are several versions of Photoshop available. Which one would be the best for me to buy to use for web design?

I REALLY APPRECIATE everyone's input and greatly value your knowledge.

    Thanks so much,

use photoshop , it is better than paintshop.. photoshop is much reliable..Advice please on learning Photoshop or Paintshop for web design applications.?
I experienced, that most of web designers and popular web design studios use Photoshop to paint web site sketches. Also they work in Illustrator to get icons, characters, illustrations and everything else, which should look like vector made.

Hi, I started out like you, just a small web design firm and I started small and worked my way up. I started just by references. I then tried out putting out signs on the weekends for small businesses for professional websites starting at $500 per. That worked out better than I anticipated. References are key though. About 80% of my business is referrals and references.

Now I have some very big clients including one NFL Charities website a chain of restaurants and several big companies in the DFW area. I have a staff and an office and I started in my apartment!

You could also try google ads. It's not that expensive and can get some good leads. Also, maybe look into putting an ad in the paper in the services section. Usually pretty cheap. If you have any other questions, please drop me a line at sschlee@gmail.com.Im starting a web design company, www.hidef-media.com does anyone have any advice about getting clients?

Need Advice on getting into the Creative/Art/Design industry?

    I need some advice.

I've been to university and finished a degree, but now am not interested in that anymore.

I want to pursue my interest in art work particularly in the visual presentation of things, deciding what colour, layout etc looks best - what is this called in career terms and how can i work for someone eventhough i have no proper experience or portfolio (except work i've kept from high school).

I've started looking for vacancies but they want people with some kind of experience. How do i get a company to take me on. I'm don't mind training and learning with a company - but knowone gives you a chance to even do that.Need Advice on getting into the Creative/Art/Design industry?
Familiarize yourself with Adobe Creative Suite!!! If you want to get into design, you need to be somewhat fluent in these programs. They are a designer's right hand...literally...your hand becomes part of your mouse. Once you get that down, start with business cards, wedding invitation, and stationary packages for friends, family and local businesses. If you are very determined and work hard, you can become successful on your own. I did not major in graphic design and this is how I got started. You have to be able to market yourself. Anytime you hear someone say they need a business card, jump in and offer - modestly if possible. Once you get a few things done, build yourself a website to keep as a live portfolio and make business cards for yourself. Try bartering with friends who are starting new business ventures, this way you can get some great stuff and they can get some design work. I've gotten all kinds of stuff - jewelry, yard work, deck remodeling, hair styles, and all of my facials and makeup for my wedding. It's a lot of fun making someone's business look good on paper. Make that your personal motto, and you'll make yourself look good. When it comes to getting paid, don't overprice yourself but don't sell yourself short either. Good luck!Need Advice on getting into the Creative/Art/Design industry?
Try sign making. It is one of the best ways to get in on what happens in your city, where the art goes, what it is ,and whose art it does well with.Say a sculpture on a windy corner that changes with the wind.or Realtor signs.
If you can narrow your list down and come up with some better definitions of what you want to do the answers might come a little easier. It sounds like you are interested in either Graphic Design or possibly some other type visual presentation dealing with displays of some sort. I recommend taking a class or two to get some work in your portfolio. Once you have a few things to show you can probably find an paid/un-paid internship with a design firm.

If that doesn't help, google different jobs you are interested in and see what the companies are looking for. You might be able to make a portfolio by just finding examples of what you want to do and making your own version of that.
